Oregon Society for Respiratory Care

This web site was created to provide a communication mechanism for issues involving health care politics, respiratory therapists and education. Job postings are available on the Employment link. Or you can see upcoming conferences and events.

Looking for information about mass casualty planning or a possible avian flu pandemic? There is a wealth of state and national information on the Informational Web Sites page of this web site.

New graduates 2009 (your next co-worker) taking the walk from Mt. Hood pictures welcome. Need information on the license process.

AARC 2009 Human Resources Study

Please assist the AARC in gathering data for its 2009 Human Resources Study. The data from this study will document wages earned by respiratory therapists, the services they are providing, and provide other information critical in documenting the value of respiratory therapists to employers, consumers, legislators and regulators. It is easy, the confidentiality of participants is guaranteed, and participants will be provided with a pre-publication executive summary of the study results. Please review the details of this study at: http://www.aarc.org/headlines/09/03/hr_survey.cfm and make your voice be heard!

Hurry the survey is available only until April 9. One lucky person will be randomly selected to have his or her way paid to the 2009 AARC International Congress!

This is an official notification that we have activated the 435 Plan in Support of the Medicare RT Initiative (HR 1077 and S 343).

We now have our legislation in both sides of Congress and we need as many respiratory therapists, patients, consumers and supporters to use Capitol Connection to voice their support for these respiratory therapy bills.  These bills are exactly the same ones that we supported last year, under different bill numbers (HR 3968 and S. 2704). A new Congress, the 111th means new bill numbers.

As you all know the AARC's Washington DC Capitol Hill Lobby Day will occur in 3 weeks, March 10, and we need as many letters or emails of support to go into members offices before your PACT representatives arrive for our Hill Day.  Simply put, we need to ratchet up our communication of the bills within our states and begin work on getting emails, letters, faxes, calls and petitions started in advance of our legislative lobby day.

The new deadline to earn the RRT credential is February 28, 2009.
